Cat & Dog Collar Sizing

Measuring for correct fit

• To insure an accurate fit we strongly recommend that you measure your pets neck. It's easy to do with a piece of string. Place the string around your pets neck, noting how much string it takes to go completely around your pets neck. Then measure that length of the string by laying it on a ruler or yard stick.
• Be sure the string lays on your pets neck the same way that you want the collar to fit. If you want the collar loose, measure loosely, if you want the collar snug with just a little room for comfort, place the string snuggly on your pets neck.
• The string measurement is your pet's neck size. Measuring your pets current collar or using the size on his current collar will not be accurate and may result in purchasing an incorrect size collar for your dog.

Collar Sizes

There is some overlap in the sizing, for instance a pet with a 13" neck can wear a SMALL collar 8" to 14" or a MEDIUM collar 12" to 20". Your choice. How to pick? Here is a little more information to help you decide.

6.5" to 11" = Cat 1/2" wide, 6 1/2"- 11" long
8" to 14" = Large Cat 1/2" wide, 8" - 14" long
6.5" to 11" = X-Small dog 1/2" wide, 6 1/2"- 11" long
8" to 14" = Small dog 5/8"wide, 8"- 14" long
12" - 20" = Medium dog 3/4" wide, 12"- 20"long
16" - 28" Large dog 1" wide, 16"- 28"long

Cat Collars 1/2" wide

Cat Collars fit neck sizes 6 1/2"- 11" long and Large Cat Collars fit neck sizes 8"- 14" long. These are both VERY light weight collars. At less than .02 oz these collars feature light weight dee rings, and plastic breakaway buckles. The webbing while extremely light is also VERY strong. Making an exceptionally light and tiny collar. This item is especially cute with bows and durable enough for everyday use.

X-Small Dog Collars 1/2" wide

Fits neck sizes 6 1/2"- 11" long. These are VERY light weight collars. At less than .02 oz these collars feature light weight dee rings, and small quick clip plastic buckles. This size is intended for very small dogs and cats but are not breakaway collars. These are appropriate for dogs up to 5 lbs. The webbing while extremely light is also VERY strong, making an exceptionally light collar. This item is especially cute with bows and durable enough for everyday use. For all Toy breeds, Miniature breeds, Chihuahuas, Chinese Crested, Pomeranian, Yorkies, Teacup breeds, and similar size dogs. Plastic buckles are not for tie out.

Small Dog Collars 5/8"wide, 8"- 14" long

Another very light weight collar. Just right for small dogs that are not toy size. We use the same super light, super strong webbing, as the X-Small size collars with a comparable light weight dee ring. This collar is a bit wider, and has a stronger quick clip buckle, making this the best collar for little dogs that like to pull. This is the perfect size for many smaller dog breeds and even used occasionally on very large cats, although this collar doesn't have a breakaway buckle. This is our most popular size! For smaller Terriers, Griffon, Lhasa Apso, Jack Russell, Maltese, Miniature Poodle, Miniature Pinchers, smaller Spaniels & Schnauzers, and growing puppies of most sizes. Plastic buckles are not for tie out.

Medium Dog Collars 3/4" wide, 12"-20"long

Fits all medium sized dogs, features standard weight dog collar webbing that is both wider and thicker than the small dog collars webbing, and a larger quick clip plastic buckle this collar is plenty sturdy for medium sized dogs. Featuring a steel dee ring for strength, this collar is built to take the stresses produced by the medium sized breeds. For Beagles, Brittanys, Corgis, Cockers, smaller Retrievers, Dalmatians, Boxers, Fox Terriers, Westies and larger breeds with smaller necks like the Irish Setter, and some sighthounds. Plastic buckles are not for tie out.

Large dog Collars 1" wide, 16"- 28"long

Fits most large size dogs. This collar is a full inch wide, and adjusts over such a wide range that it is suitable for a very long list of dog breeds. It features a welded steel dee ring and a quick clip buckle. This is a very good looking collar which shows well on many breeds. Including, Bloodhound, larger Boxers, Bulldogs, Chow, Shar-Pei, Doberman, Shepards, medium to large Retrievers, Rottweilers, Great Danes, Old English Sheepdogs, Rhodesian Ridgeback, Giant Schnauzer, and Huskies. Plastic buckles are not for tie out.

NOTE: ABOUT TIE-OUT Adjustable collars with quick clip plastic buckles are not intended for Tie-out. These buckles are excellent for easy convenience, however if you intend to tie your dog out, purchase a collar with a metal buckle. NEVER EVER TIE OUT A DOG WITH A CHOKE OR CHAIN COLLAR.

Harness Sizes

How to measure for accurate harness fit

Measure your dog's girth, while the dog is standing. Measure all the way around his or her rib cage and back to the starting point over the spine. You can use a string to take the measurement on your dog, then lay the string on a yard stick or measuring tape to read the length of the string. Take the measurement at the largest point of your dogs girth.

This girth measurement will correspond directly to the size of the harness. Our harnesses fit up the stated size. If your measurement is longer than any stated harness size, the correct size for your dog will be the next larger size.

There is some adjustment in the girth of our harness, they can fit a slightly smaller or larger girth than the stated size. However, because the chest of the harness is proportioned to fit based on the accurate girth size, we strongly recommend that you choose your harness size based on these guidelines. For example if your dog has a 10 1/4" girth, the correct fit will be a 12" harness. Our harness are proportioned to fit average shape dogs, and may not fit well on dachshunds.

1/2" X-Small Pet Leashes 4' and 6'

1/2" wide and very light weight, our x-small dog and cat leashes also have very small and lightweight snaps. Our exclusive 1/2" webbing used for the backing is tightly woven giving our dog and cat leashes exceptional strength for their weight. This size of leash is appropriate for cat harness, x-small and small dog collars and harnesses. For all toy and miniature breeds such as Chihuahuas, Chinese Crested, Pomeranian, Yorkies, Teacup breeds, and similar size dogs. If you desire a lightweight fashion leash, we recommend this ex-small size. If your dog is very active, pulls strongly on walks, or weighs more than 7 lbs, you may prefer the medium size leash because it will be most comfortable for your hands.

3/4" Medium Dog Leashes 4' and 6'

Pair with our small, medium or large dog collars and medium to large harnesses.

3/4" wide standard pet weight leashes are great for all small to medium sized dogs and appropriate for large dogs as well if you want a standard size leash. These leashes feature standard weight 3/4", 100% nylon webbing that is wider and thicker than the small dog collars, the same width and weight as the medium dog collars and narrower than the large dog collars.

Sturdy medium size bolt snaps are non-rusting and guaranteed not to break with normal use. These leashes are built to handle all medium sized breeds. For Beagles, Brittanys, Corgis, Cockers, smaller Retrievers, Dalmatians, Boxers, Fox Terriers, Westies and larger breeds with smaller necks like the Irish Setters, and sighthounds. This leash is appropriate for most dogs, unless you prefer a very light weight leash or a heavy leash.
